The 24 eligible countries are Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, the Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Applicants must also plan to begin an approved undergraduate programme in 2027. Students who started their undergraduate degrees before 2027 are not eligible. Applicants who already hold a higher education qualification should carefully review the official eligibility rules before applying.

Indigenous applicants are encouraged to apply, although Indigenous identity is not compulsory.

Which Universities and Courses Are Available?

The King’s Commonwealth Fellowship 2027 covers selected undergraduate programmes at approved universities. Available courses depend on the applicant's country.

Participating institutions and eligible study options include:

  • Fiji National University: Environmental health, public health, primary education, and secondary mathematics or physics education.
  • National University of Samoa: Nursing, health sciences, primary education, and secondary science teaching.
  • Papua New Guinea University of Technology: Mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering.
  • University of Belize: Nursing and mathematics education.
  • University of Mauritius: Civil engineering, geomatics, and town and country planning.
  • University of Technology, Mauritius: Occupational safety and health management, and travel and tourism management.
  • University of the West Indies, Cave Hill: Health sciences.
  • Villa College: Nursing, teaching, and selected engineering programmes.

Applicants must confirm that their country, chosen university, and exact degree title appear on the approved list. Not every course at these institutions qualifies. Medicine and medical technology degrees are excluded under the published guidance.

King’s Commonwealth Fellowship 2027 Benefits

The fellowship provides financial assistance to reduce the cost of undergraduate education.

Tuition Fees and Living Stipend

Successful fellows receive tuition support where government funding does not already cover the eligible costs. They also receive a basic living stipend, with amounts varying according to the study location.

Annual Return Journey

An annual return journey is provided where applicable under the programme's funding arrangements.

Applicants should note that the fellowship does not cover every possible expense. Additional costs should be confirmed with the programme administrators and the selected university.Successful fellows must also return to their home country or region for at least three years immediately after graduation. Awards cannot be deferred.

  • Passport or national identification document.
  • Secondary-school transcripts and qualification details.
  • Curriculum vitae or resume.
  • Two personal statements of 300–500 words each.

Applicants who are employed may need recommendations from an educational referee and their current employer. Those who are not employed should check the requirements for educational referees.

University admission may require additional documents, including English-language proficiency evidence.
