Studying or conducting research in Europe can open doors to world-class education, international collaboration, and valuable career opportunities. The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic (NSP) 2026 is one of Europe's most attractive government-funded mobility programs for international students, PhD candidates, university teachers, researchers, and artists.

Financed by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, the scholarship aims to strengthen international academic cooperation by supporting study, research, teaching, and artistic stays at Slovak universities and research institutions. Rather than funding full degree programs, the scholarship supports short-term academic mobility, allowing participants to gain valuable international experience while contributing to educational and scientific exchange.

The program welcomes applicants from almost every country around the world, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking academic and professional growth in Central Europe.

What is the National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic?

The National Scholarship Programme (NSP) was established in 2005 by the Government of the Slovak Republic to encourage international mobility within higher education and research.

The scholarship supports temporary academic stays at recognized Slovak universities and research organizations. During the scholarship period, participants can study, conduct research, teach, or pursue artistic projects while experiencing Slovakia's rich academic environment and culture.

Unlike traditional scholarships that finance complete bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees, the NSP focuses on mobility programs that allow participants to spend several months at a Slovak institution before returning to their home university or research organization.

Why Study or Conduct Research in Slovakia?

Slovakia has become an increasingly attractive destination for international scholars due to its growing investment in higher education, research, and innovation.

Participants benefit from:

  • Rich European cultural experiences
