International students planning to study in Lithuania have an important date to remember. Vilnius University will open applications for the 2027-2028 academic year on December 1, 2026. The university offers Bachelor’s, integrated, Master’s, and selected PhD programmes for international applicants.

For students seeking financial support, Vilnius University also provides different scholarship and tuition-fee funding opportunities. However, there is no single scholarship awarded to every applicant. Funding depends on the programme, nationality, academic performance, and other eligibility conditions. Preparing early can therefore make the application process much easier.

Vilnius University Scholarships 2027-2028

Vilnius University is one of Lithuania’s major higher education institutions. International applicants can explore more than 70 study options across different academic fields.

Applications for the 2027-2028 academic year open on December 1, 2026. The main deadline for non-EU/EFTA applicants is May 1, 2027, while eligible EU/EFTA applicants can apply until July 1, 2027.

The application fee is currently €100, although applicants should confirm the amount before applying. Applicants can currently select up to three programmes in one application.

Choose Your Programme Before Looking for Funding

One of the most important steps is to select the right degree programme first. Vilnius University does not offer one universal “2027 scholarship.”

Instead, scholarship and tuition-waiver opportunities can vary according to the faculty, programme, nationality, and academic results.

The university offers programmes in areas such as Software Engineering, Economics, Business, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Medicine, Dentistry, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Finance, and International Relations.

After selecting a programme, applicants should carefully review its admission requirements and available funding opportunities. This approach prevents students from assuming that every programme provides the same scholarship benefits.

Can International Students Receive Full Tuition Coverage?

Yes, some international students may qualify for significant tuition support. One notable opportunity is the Full Tuition Fee Waiver for Master’s students, which has been awarded to five highly motivated and academically strong non-EU/EEA applicants.

Some programmes may also provide performance-based tuition reductions ranging from 25% to 100%. Individual faculties can have their own scholarship arrangements as well.

Because scholarship availability and deadlines can change, applicants should not automatically use previous years’ information as confirmed details for 2027-2028. Always check the latest programme and scholarship conditions before submitting an application.

Documents to Prepare Before Applications Open

Preparing your documents early is one of the best ways to strengthen your application. Bachelor’s applicants should normally prepare their secondary-school graduation certificates and academic transcripts.

Master’s applicants generally need a Bachelor’s degree certificate and academic supplement. Depending on the programme, additional documents may be required.

Important Documents

Applicants should prepare:

  • Valid passport
  • Academic certificates
  • Academic transcripts
  • English-language proficiency evidence
  • Motivation letter, where required
  • Certified translations, where applicable
  • Programme-specific supporting documents
  • Any additional documents requested by the faculty

Some programmes may also require entrance examinations or additional academic conditions. Check these requirements before the application portal opens.
